Lawn Fertilization

There are two main issues to consider when deciding between Organic or Chemical Fertilizers for plants, soil, and the environment:

Long-Term Effects

Understand that Organic Fertilizers have been minimally processed and the nutrients remain in their natural form, made from plant and animal remains, or powdered minerals.  Alternatively, Chemical Fertilizers have been extracted and refined.

Advantages of Organic Fertilizer include:

• Improve the structure of soil.
• Increase the ability for soil to hold water and nutrients.
• Over time, soil and plants become stronger.
• It is difficult to over fertilizer and harm the plants.
• Little risk of toxic buildup of chemicals and salt.
• Organic Fertilizer is environmental friendly.

Disadvantages of Chemical Fertilizers:

• Primarily made from nonrenewable sources, including fossil fuels.
• Do not sustain the plants and soil for the long term.
• Do not promote the life of plants or the structure and health the soil.
• Elements are not replaced for repeated crop plants that have been gradually used.
• Over fertilization is probable, which can disrupt the entire eco-system.
• Repeated applications can result in toxic buildup.
• Long-term use will disrupt microbial ecosystems, increase pests, and contribute to the release of greenhouse gases.

Our most important goal is to improve the earth, for future generations, one patch at a time. The decision to avoid chemicals and use organic  becomes a moral and conscious choice. Then again, it may be a simple fact that our customers want the greenest lawn in the neighborhood.
